CVIC's programs work together toward building a violence-free community – one in which every child grows up in a nurturing environment, and where homes, schools and streets are safe.
Underlying our services is the belief that all individuals have the right to live in dignity as human beings, in freedom and with justice and peace; thus our services not only enable victims of violence to realize their full potential, they encourage our community to respect the rights of all individuals and work together toward systemic change to guard these rights.
Our approach is holistic and integrated, involving intervention, prevention and community collaboration.
- Intervention: We ensure safety, justice and healing through programs supporting adults and children impacted by violence.
- Prevention: We focus on core issues that contribute to violence in order to prevent violence for future generations. We offer counseling for children who have learned violence and treatment for batterers, and we spark new ways of thinking by providing community education and training.
- Collaboration: We contribute to societal change through collaborative work to improve our community's response to violence.
This comprehensive approach is carried out through five programs, providing direct services to over 2,000 and education and training to nearly 9,000 adults and children in 2006.
