Program Goals

  1. Inform crime victims of the North Dakota Fair Treatment Standards and the court process.
  2. Keep victims apprised of the disposition of their court cases.
  3. Promote victim participation in the criminal justice process.
  4. Increase awareness of crime and improve our community's response to violence.

Services

  • Implementation of the ND Fair Treatment Standards: Inform victims of the standards and court process and maintain close collaboration with the States Attorney's Office to make the criminal justice process smoother for citizens.
  • Case Notification: Assistance with cases through every step of the system to keep clients apprised of their case status, upcoming hearings and related information.
  • Involvement in Cases: Advocacy and support for crime victims to have the option of being actively involved in their case, including completing victim impact statements that describe the effect the crime has had on their lives.
  • Access to Funds: Links to state funds to pay for medical and other bills resulting from the crime.
  • Referrals: Links to community agencies to meet needs resulting from the crime.
  • Education: Participation in community education to enhance awareness of crime and equip professionals to effectively respond to individuals impacted by violence.
  • Coordination of the CCR Project: Coordination of the Greater Grand Forks Domestic Violence Task Force and Coordinated Community Response (CCR) Project, an unprecedented collaborative effort that is improving the way our community responds to domestic violence.
